About Kum Nye

Send a summary of this page to someone via email.

Kum Nye is a form of Tibetan yoga introduced into the West by Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche, a Tibetan lama and refugee. Tarthang Rinpoche specifically adapted this form of yoga to relieve the stress and tension of the modern lifestyle. Developed from the traditional healing systems of Tibet, Kum Nye was originally used as a physical discipline to deepen meditation practice and connect the mind and body through movement.

Based in Ratna Ling, California, the main retreat center offers classes in beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of Kum Nye practice as well as teacher training courses. However, that is hardly the beginning; our main retreat center is only the base of an entire, ever expanding, Kum Nye practice program. There are now Kum Nye centers in Germany, Holland, Argentina, and Brazil; e-Kum Nye classes offered online; retreats taught all over the United States and the world by our lead instructor, Arnaud Maitland, and Meggie Hayne. These resources are available to anyone who wishes to become involved in the growing Kum Nye family.
